Putting source scenes together



Rendering them as flat planes and inporting into Maya didn't work out as well as I hoped. Though the outlines do work. Mab I needed a higher resolution? Anyways, here's a shot of one that came out well. They are 2D and appear as flatplanes when the camera passes though them.

Head




Here's the native head as it is now. Takes a while to do this. The film we're making is intended not to look realistic, and this model for development and character design- also to brush up my skills.

Textures



I'm giving the textures a go to see the potential of the model. The mouth is pretty messed up I know ...i'm working on it.

Learning to use Mudbox



Over Christmas I got a new Wacom tablet which i've been getting used to. It works well with Audodesk Mudbox and allows creations baised on pressure of the pen which i've spent some time getting used to.

Autodesk Mudbox is a fairly recent program designed to compete with zBrush- a modelling program that a lot of my classmates have become very used to already. I was never good at zBrush though after some time i've managed to get fluent with Mudbox.

In Mudbox you start off with a preset such as a head, box, body etc and mould it into your creation. It's like having a block of mud and playing with it so it's pretty fun to work with compared with Maya though Models still need to be tweaked in Maya when they are finished.

Here's a preset model that I started with and how it looked a tad later after I played with it a bit.

The advantage of this is that your not limited to straight line polygons, the program allows for the creation of much more organic models and realistic creations.

More water


I like to work on the water texture every now and then as it's something that can always be improved with sliders and colour maps without the risk of ruining the animation that can happen with Character animation.
